"Ben! He's coming up behind you! Look out!" exclaimed a fifteen year old girl whose bright, fiery red hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail.
A towering compost alien with a flame patterned head and green eyes with side-ways , slit pupils heeded her warning and quickly jumped out of the way just a split second before a heavy, stone lance crashed into the ground he once stood on.
"Thanks, Gwen!" the alien gave her a thumbs up.
He then looked up at the monstrous creature that reared up before him.  It resembled a giant, mutated bear with a soft, purplish gooey body covered heavily in stone-plate armor.  It's eyes and mouth glew with molten rock.  It's left hand, which was shaped like a spear, reformed back into a clawed paw.
"You know, Humongousaur would have easily taken care of this rock-brain, but nooooo....the Omnitrix gave me Swampfire instead!" the alien complained.
"You can mope about it after we defeat this creep!" Gwen ran towards the stone bear, shooting pink energy blasts at it.
"Rrrroaaaarrrr!" the bear bellowed as her attacks harmlessly pelted it.  It then dropped down onto all fours and charged directly at Gwen, who had little time to dodge it.
Suddenly, four enormously thick, green vines burst out of the ground behind the bear.  They shot forward and wrapped around its midsection and legs, securing it.
Gwen looked back at Swampfire.  He was kneeling on the ground, a fist stuck through the concrete.  He pulled it out once he made sure that the bear wasn't going anywhere and ran towards Gwen.
"You okay?" Swampfire asked.
"Yeah.  Good thinking, Ben."
"Kinda wish Kevin was here to help us deal with this thing." Swampfire immediately regretted saying this out loud.
"Hah! Are you kidding me? We have this perfectly under control! Why would we need that selfish, rock-brained traitor?!" Gwen scoffed as she began to pace back and forth in front of Swampfire, going into another of her rants.
Swampfire sighed, wishing he would have kept that thought to himself.  Not too long ago, Kevin Levin-former nemesis of Ben who had joined his side along with Gwen, Ben's cousin- had literally fallen under the spell of who had seemed to be an understanding girl named Caroline.  But she was really an evil, powerful witch called Charmcaster.  She had used Kevin to try to destroy Gwen and Ben, but they had broken Charmcaster's spell on Kevin.  But not before she had told him a lie about Gwen not doing anything to help his current mutation issue, saying that if he stayed the way he was, no other girl but Gwen would want him.
This had infuriated Gwen, not only because she had spent nearly every spare moment she had looking through every magic book she could find to help Kevin since the accident, but because Kevin had kissed her number one enemy.
"You know, if he feels that way about me.....thinking I'm not working my butt off day and night, trying to find a cure for his ailment, then fine! I'll stop looking!"
"Gwen....." Swampfire began but a creaking sound interrupted him.
He and Gwen turned around.  The stone bear had managed to free its front paws and was now working on trying to liberate it's back legs.  The colossal vines that had shackled the bear's  front paws were now careening down towards Gwen and Swampfire.
Swampfire quickly shoved Gwen out of the way just as the two vines crashed upon him,
"Ben!" Gwen exclaimed, jumping up and hurrying to where the vines lay.
She used her energy powers to lift them up.  She gasped, seeing no sign of her alien-powered cousin.
"Ben!"
"What? I'm right here." an ethereal voice said behind her.
Gwen whirled around in time to see a blue and black cloaked insectoid alien with bright green, compound eyes appear before her.  Gwen embraced him lovingly then slapped his shoulder.
"Don't scare me like that!" she said.
"Ow! Sorry, I didn't mean to.  I'm just glad the Omnitrix gave me who I wanted this time." the insectoid said, rubbing his sore shoulder where Gwen had hit him.
"Why did you go Big-Chill, anyways? Swampfire would have survived being crushed." Gwen asked curiously.
"I know.  But Swampfire can't do this!"
Just then, Big-Chill's cloak flared into a set of massive, moth-like wings and antennae.  He then flew towards the stone bear, which was still attempting to get completely free.  Big-Chill phased through it and, at the same time, froze it solid.
Big-Chill then landed beside Gwen, smirking.
"There.  Now he won't be able to escape." he said confidently.
"Yeah, one question though," Gwen said.
"What?" Big-Chill wondered.
"How are you going get it out of here?"
Big-Chill's confidence level dropped as he realized this.  With the creature both ensnared in vines and frozen in ice....how was he going to move it?
"Awww man....." Big-Chill groaned.
